Paladin Optional Drop Off Program
We are excited to pilot a program we've designed for ages 10-15 called Paladin! Paladin is an optional drop off program that will encourage independence in your kids and give the tools they need to develop into strong leaders with entrepreneurial minded thinking. The goals for your child through out the course of the program will be to develop or strengthen their commitment to learning, desire to improve, creativity, passion, optimism, self discipline and persistence.
Attendance is required and imperative to your child's ability to participate in this program successfully. If you have a scheduled travel, we understand but will need to be discussed prior to the start of the school year.
This program is $38 a day and will run from 9/6/2023-12/13/2023 (Wednesday's from 9am-3pm) - it is 14 weeks. The total cost is $532 but can be split into payments of $116 over 4 months or paid in full. We do need a $68 deposit that will go towards your tuition for the class to hold your spot sent via Venmo to katebrockmeyer12. We will need an initial payment or paid in full by 8/1. This payment is non refundable. If you decide to go the payment plan route we will set that up with you.
This program will kick off each week with a focus on a different life skill such as changing a tire and basic car maintenance, basic plumbing skills, first aid, meal prepping and budgeting skills, meal planning, reading maps, and communication skills!
We will take at least 4 breaks through out the day that will range between 15-20 minutes these will be decide based on their attention span and focus. Breaks will be determined often by the kids and what we've accomplished, this isn't a strict schedule.
All kids will have the autonomy to use the bathroom, get a snack or a drink as needed with out asking permission. We will have a code of conduct to create an intentional learning environment that is founded in kindness and being a positive learning environment.
Our Political Science Focus on better understanding how our federal, state and local government works. We'd love to have the kids write their own bills and go through the process of making a bill become a law. Sourcing truth and understanding what is propaganda and how is it used to guide the masses. We will dive into the nine common forms of propaganda defined: bandwagon, card stacking, glittering generalities, loaded terms, name calling, ad hominem, plain folks, testimonial, and transfer. We will modify activities for each age group. We have several hands on activities we'd love to work with the kids on in regards to propaganda and discerning truth from making videos to public speaking skills under this topic umbrella. I imagine all of our focus' will develop as the session goes on but this is our starting point.
The Entrepreneurial Focus which is a subject near and dear to my heart as I believe solution driven skills will change the future! We will be working with your child to find a concept of a product or service they'd like to build into a fully functioning business with revenue streams and true revenue. We will deep dive on ideal buyer, pain points and solutions, cost to profit ratio, naming their business, how to purchase a .com, product or service development, trouble shooting to their final products and round out the end of the semester with a vendor event at the church where the kids will sell their product or service!
We will end our day with Scientific Tools and Uses Focus where we will use a different tool each week with hands on experiments and activities to use that tool, track data, analyze data and potentially graph data. It will depend on where the kids want to go with it too! We will use tools like an audiometer - what is the loudest sound we can record, how does sound travel, what are other uses for an audiometer etc. We will pull different tools from this list and create activities around it (https://byjusexamprep.com/scientific-instruments-and-their-usage-i-5d634dbf-c894-11e5-a011-1c9399df57bf).
One of our main goals of this program is friendships and fun but intertwined with learning that is applicable and deeper than we are able to do in our regular co-learning program.
Paladin is a screen free facility and optional drop off program, you the parent are welcome to stay or you may drop and go.
We will cap each class at just 20 kids and ideally we will have a 10-11, 12-13, 14-15 class.
Our prime form of communication is via email.
