Year 1 Entrepreneurship (Wednesdays)
Digital Storytelling
Entrepreneurial 1 is a dynamic and interactive class designed to introduce high school students to the fundamentals of entrepreneurship and business innovation. Throughout the course, students will explore the mindset and skills required to identify opportunities, develop innovative solutions, and launch successful ventures.
The class begins with an exploration of the entrepreneurial mindset, emphasizing traits such as creativity, resilience, and problem-solving. Students will learn about the importance of curiosity, adaptability, and risk-taking in the world of entrepreneurship, and how these qualities can be cultivated and nurtured.
Next, students will delve into the basics of business innovation, including market research, product development, and customer validation. They will learn how to identify unmet needs and market gaps, conduct effective market research, and develop innovative products or services that address these opportunities.
Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to work on entrepreneurial projects, either individually or in teams, where they will apply their knowledge and skills to develop business ideas from concept to prototype.
Digital Media Literacy is a vital course designed to empower high school students with the critical thinking skills and knowledge necessary to navigate the complex world of digital media with confidence and discernment. In an era where information is abundant and readily accessible, the ability to critically evaluate, analyze, and responsibly engage with digital media is essential.
Throughout this course, students will explore various aspects of digital media, including social media, online news, digital advertising, and multimedia content. They will learn how to assess the credibility and reliability of digital sources, distinguish between fact and opinion, and recognize bias and misinformation.
The class will delve into topics such as media ownership, digital privacy, cybersecurity, and ethical considerations in digital media consumption and production. Students will examine the impact of digital media on society, culture, and individual behavior, as well as the ethical implications of sharing and consuming digital content.
Hands-on activities and projects will allow students to apply their understanding of digital media literacy principles in practical scenarios. They will analyze and deconstruct digital advertisements, evaluate the credibility of online news articles, and create their own multimedia content while adhering to ethical standards and best practices.
In addition to developing critical thinking skills, Digital Media Literacy also emphasizes the importance of responsible digital citizenship. Students will learn about digital rights and responsibilities, online etiquette, and strategies for maintaining a positive and safe online presence.
