Digital Storytelling

The Digital Storytelling class offers students an immersive experience in the art of storytelling using digital media platforms. In today's fast-paced digital world, the ability to convey narratives effectively through various multimedia formats is a valuable skill. This course provides students with the tools and techniques necessary to tell compelling stories using a combination of text, images, audio, and video.

Throughout the semester, students will explore the principles of storytelling, including character development, plot structure, setting, and theme. They will learn how to harness the power of digital tools and platforms to enhance their narratives, whether through blogs, podcasts, short films, or interactive presentations.

In addition to studying classic storytelling techniques, students will also examine emerging trends in digital storytelling, such as transmedia storytelling, augmented reality, and interactive fiction. They will analyze and critique a variety of digital narratives, from viral videos to immersive online experiences, to understand what makes a story resonate with audiences in the digital age.

Hands-on projects will form the core of the course, allowing students to put theory into practice as they create their own digital stories. From writing scripts and storyboarding to recording audio and editing video, students will develop a range of technical skills while honing their creative voice.

By the end of the course, students will have produced a portfolio of digital storytelling projects that showcase their ability to craft engaging narratives in the digital realm. Whether they aspire to become filmmakers, journalists, game designers, or simply want to explore the art of storytelling, Digital Storytelling provides a dynamic and collaborative learning environment where students can unleash their creativity and share their stories with the world.
